Common questions
The things people ask first.
- How much does a custom website cost?
- First Matter's Website Design & Launch package is $750 one-time, collected as a 50% deposit to begin with the balance due before launch. That covers custom design, mobile, tablet and desktop layouts, service pages, contact and service request forms, basic SEO setup, domain connection, launch support and two revision rounds. Additional pages, copywriting, booking systems and advanced integrations are quoted separately.
- How long does it take to build a website?
- It depends on how settled the content and direction are when we start. The process runs through five stages — goals and content audit, information architecture, visual direction, development, then testing and launch. Projects where the copy and images are ready move considerably faster than ones where those are still being written, which is usually the real bottleneck rather than the build itself.
- Do I need to have my content and branding ready first?
- No. Most projects arrive as a rough idea rather than a finished brief, and that is the normal starting point. If there is no identity yet, brand work can run alongside the site so the two are designed as one system instead of being retrofitted to each other later.
- What happens to my website after it launches?
- Two optional monthly care plans cover it. Essential Care is $49/month and includes managed hosting, SSL and security, routine backups, uptime monitoring, form testing, software maintenance, small text or image changes, and technical support. Managed Care is $99/month and adds priority support, up to one hour of edits per month, content and service updates, analytics review, lead form maintenance and conversion recommendations. Neither is required, and monthly plans can be changed or cancelled with 30 days' notice.
- Do you work with clients outside your area?
- Yes. First Matter works with clients anywhere. Website and branding projects run remotely end to end, and physical work such as 3D-printed prototypes or finished prints is shipped.
- Can you redesign an existing website instead of starting over?
- Yes. Redesigns are a standard part of the web design service, and they usually begin with an audit of what the current site is doing and where it is losing people. Sometimes the right answer is a rebuild; sometimes it is a sharper structure and clearer calls to action on top of what already exists.
- What makes a website worth rebuilding?
- Usually one of three things: the site does not reflect what the business actually sells now, visitors cannot complete the one action that matters most, or it was built on something that has become slow or difficult to maintain. A site that simply looks dated but still converts well is rarely the most urgent problem to solve.
